Arsenal vs Stoke: Why Wenger was angry with his players

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has said he was not happy with his side’s lack of urgency, pace and drive against Stoke City in the first half of their 3-0 win on Sunday.

Wenger’s players were booed off at the break with the scores at 0-0 after a lacklustre 45 minutes.
However, they opened scoring in the 75th minute through a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang penalty.

The Gabon striker added a second in the 86th minute, before substitute Alexandre Lacazette added a third from the spot.
“Stoke played well. And secondly we didn’t play well in the first half, at all. We lacked urgency, pace and drive,” Wenger told a news conference.

“In the second half we rectified that. As much as I felt in the first half we could lose this game, in the second half I always felt we will win this game. That is the difference basically of the attitude of the team. That explains 0-0 at half-time and 3-0 after the game,” he added.
